About Solid Surface
Acrylic Solid Surface is a non-porous surface. It is a man-made product that has the ability to imitate the appearance of stone and other naturally occurring materials yet can be joined seamlessly (without gaps) by a trained craftsman.
Normally manufactured in sheet form, acrylic solid surface can also be cast into a variety of sink shapes or other products. Flat sheets can be heated and bent into a large range of three-dimensional shapes, using a process called thermoforming, which adds to the versatility of the product.
A major appeal of solid surface is its seamless/non-porous nature. Solid surface sinks can be joined directly to the countertop surface (with no gaps), which eliminates areas for water to collect and bacteria to grow. Likewise, splashbacks can also be integrated into the top seamlessly. Solid surface is priced competitively to natural stone or quartz surfacing and is available in a large variety of patterns. Most brands provide a 10 year limited warranty.

Technical
Solid Surface is manufactured by mixing Acrylic or Polyester resin with Stone (Bauxite) and pigments. Then, a chemical cure is activated, bringing the material up to 60°C or more. Once it has reached the correct temperature, the material is cut into sheets or shapes. The manufacturers then sand the material on one or both sides.
Environmental
All manufacturers of Acrylic Solid Surface take environment concerns seriously; most companies have undergone workplace examinations to be GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified, GREENGUARD for Children & Schools Certified or similar.
The composition of Acrylic Solid Surface is non toxic, creating a product that is healthy for people, animals and the environment.
